Condo of the Day: 88 Quincy Street

There are three units left in this townhouse condo development, ranging in price from $469,000 to $729,000. The finishes look better than average for this part of town (which ain't saying much) but we bet these pics are of the most expensive unit.

The photo of the kitchen when you click on "more pictures" gives new meaning to the phrase "open kitchen". Gack! Could they have used cheaper looking cabinets? How about a half wall, a pass through, something? These apartments have absolutely no character at all, they totally stripped the charm from what was once a beautiful building, as evidenced from a very nice facade.

If it's a 4 story building, and there are "only" 3 units left, I guess that means only one sold, right? These people are not giving me a good vibe for quality and straighforewardness here.

Am I smoking crack, or do those cabinets on the left side of the kitchen disappear into the wall?

I don't know about the price, but the units do like pretty nice.

following up shahn...why is there a cut out above the sink area in the kitchen. there already is a microwave cut out above the stove. what am i missing?

Cabinets above sink area are generally higher or more shallow or don't exist. So when standing at the sink cabinet, itr is not in the way. Often open shelf can be installed there.

funny, it says
"88 Quincy St
Prospect Heights, Fort Greene, Clinton Hill"

so location is Bed stuy of course.

This is my block and I also know the developers. I feel that they did quality work and the exterior of the building is quite nice. Don't know if the block will garner those prices though.

And I think there are only 3 units in the building, not just 3 units left.

I happened upon the open house this past weekend. Ironically I was on my way to a brownstone open house in the stuy, when I drove by and saw the sign. To me the prices are high, but the second floor unit was decent and the 3rd flr duplex was actually a nice living space. They added a new level for a queen size room and a balcony with a floor to ceiling glass wall. The units have no original details, but the staircase and common areas had a few wood accents. The picture of open kitchen is in the garden unit, the other units kitchen's where a lot nicer. Still I think the pricing is pretty high.

$600 a foot, what are they smoking?

The flooring looks like different shades"- funny.

Personally i hate the out in the open kitchen. The other kitchen certainly looks a bit better, but by and large they units don't look very interesting. Wish they had shown a bathroom. The pics may be the most expensive unit, but the second kitchen must be in the least. Why would anyone buy a unit for 469,000 with that poor excuse for a kitchen?

Yeah $729,000 for a condo?? You can buy a house for that much in that area.

There is a Corcoran sign on the building. Anyone notice that? That's a little strange, no? The only way Corcoran would put a sign outside the building is if it was their exclusive.

Pepe's a real slimy company. I wouldn't be surprised if they are advertising it even though it's someone else's exclusive...

Brownstoner should find out if this is Corcoran's exclusive and take NC Pepe's link out...

This property is listed by Brooklyn Properties and Corcoran.

I went to see this place with my sister and her fiance who are looking into the area. Even though I only live a couple blocks away (actually in Clinton Hill) the couple blocks make a huge difference. This is definitely Bed-Stuy and has a totally different feeling. It's fine to move in early and wait for the streets to improve (less run down buildings and empty lots), but no one should pay those prices at this point. Especially since the place has been so renovated it's hard to customize and make any capital improvements.

Some people like open kitchens. I live in a townhouse condo, and that was actually one of my requirements when I was apartment hunting -- that the kitchen be open to the living/dining area. It's better for casual entertaining so you're not shut off from your guests in a separate room. Also, it means you can have a galley-size kitchen without feeling claustrophobic, which would be the case if there were a wall or even a pass-through. (Thankfully, my kitchen is significantly nicer than this one!)
