OMG, Bruce Ratner is the most greedy SOB in the universe. This parking thing is going to be a joke in terms of reducing traffic. At least the VIPs will get a cushy arena parking spot though!

I worry when anyone plans for public policy by saying "they'll take public transportation". NOT!
Haven't they learned you can't tell Americans (especially New York area people) what to do with their cars? Gas prices haven't stopped people from driving. Bruce Ratner advising people to park in Outer Slobovia and take the subway into the arena will be met with both the rude noises and third digit raised in salute, that it deserves. That and a bazillion cars chocked into the AY area looking for parking.
And of course, the rich get a cushy parking deal.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha--gasp!- ha ha ha ha... Excuse me while I wipe away tears of laughter. Who knew Ratner had such a sense of humor? Or maybe he's just delusional? What makes him think that fans will want to travel several hours if they have to make arrangements for public transportation? For some areas it's less than easy- trust me I know. So he thinks by making parking expensive that people will leave their cars home? 3 people to a car? Who is going to police that? Ratner (oh yes I can just seem him now standing in the road at the entrance, arms spread out, going WAIT!! I have to count how many of you are in there!!
It's very obvious he is proposing some band-aid solutions because the environmental impact is probably the biggest issue that could derail him.
And of course you realize that the parking is just another perk for the rich crowd- the rest of us peons can try to get there as we can. I mean, we're just the "common man" so who cares? I swear if Ratner's ass-kissing gets any worse, his lips will be permanently puckered like a blowfish's.

Bx2Bklyn you NAIL it on the head with that last post!
Ratner is so transparent to those who aren't bought off and/or don't walk around with blinders on. how can he be so foolish????

I like the idea of increasing weekend subway service. Can we have that without the arena?

Unfortunately it doesn't seem that the City cares enough about US. I doubt the MTA will make any attempt to upgrade service until the angry mobs storm their gates with torches and sticks. Well, of course they have no money- that's what happens when you sell the air rights for 100 million and then promise the developer 100 million in funs to support the project he "bought" the air rights for. It makes me furious that NYC and NYS politicians think we are all stupid. Maybe they're right- after all, we did elect them.
