Brownstoner Garden Update

garden
We know it doesn't look like much has happened this week, which is kinda true, but the supporting wall has been completed and the bluestone edging for the planting beds along the side have been laid. Today is supposed to be the big day when we get the rest of the sod.

are you planning on climbing over that thing in the foreground to get to the patio?

an arbour would look nice over the bluestone.

Read William Alexander's $64 Tomato for his sod sob story. NB: Be careful with rose bushes, japanese beetles, grubs....

agreed on the grass. It's lookin' sexier. And it's making me itchy to go home and water our newly laid seed. Go grass, grow grass, pleeeese!

Got to get one of those vintage push mowers to cut the grass. My dad had one because he insisted it cut the grass precisely. My brothers and I believe it was some kind Abu Ghraib type of humiliation based torture, as everyone else had self propelled riding mowers. I think its the way Opus Dei followers cut their grass.

Thomson must have missed the earlier post re: concrete hazard. Mrs. Brownstoner has hired a (local--and green!) security firm to monitor play during daylight hours in the rec yard, but was undecided on watchdog versus electric fence in case junior Brownstoners sneak out at night. Thank God there is no water feature--or mylar balloons!
