Tuesday's House of the Day discussion got a lot of people talking about Stuyvesant Heights. One reader who lives in the neighborhood sent these pics in to give a visual taste of the neighborhood.

Are those the faces of the building owners? That's kinda cool, but also a little creepy.

Yo why can't they ever show a black girl and a white guy when there is a little integration going on? :P

Love the picture of the Knight and Lady. Unfortunately for the lady, I think the limestone has weathered a bit away under her nose.

I wondered if those were portatits too- a lot if the architectural ornament in these neighborhoods have faces that aren't generic, ornamental faces and they look more like portraits. Would be fascinating to find out.

On Bed-Stuy Gateway, we've posted a bunch of pictures of the streetscapes of Bedford-Stuyvesant, most of which are images of blocks in Stuyvesant Heights.

Go to the homepage, and scroll down to the lower left where there is a photo gallery called Streetscapes of Bed-Stuy.

There are indeed many magnificent homes in that section of Bedford-Stuyvesant.

Actually, Bx2Bklyn, the "lady" on the left is a gent with a moustache. See the linked photo for a larger picture of the 2 houses.

I'm betting these are portraits, too. If not custom done for the first homeowners, then they could be relatives of the builders or even the craftsmen. We'll probably never know.

Maybe they are there for gay pride and people from the rainbow crowd in Bed-Stuy?

you mean, she's in drag? Goodness! Must be a take on one of those Shakespearean plays! (See- we can both be right!) :-)

The houses at 402-416 Stuyvesant Avenue are right around the corner from the wrongly-maligned Bainbridge Street house...btw, 404 Stuyvesant Avenue is featured in Bricks and Brownstone.

Stuyvesant Heights reminds me of PLG in that there are exquisite townhouses that are seriously undervalued with respect to the more gentrified neighborhoods.
