Good Fork Continues to Rake In High Praise

The Good Fork is exactly what the Red Hook dining scene needed, concludes Peter Meehan in today's New York Times. Despite the charm and local flavor of neighborhood stalwarts like Pioneer, Hope and Anchor, El Huipil and even 360, "what Red Hook needed was a place with an accessible menu that neighborhood folks could rely on and bridge and tunnel folks (that's you, Manhattanites) could use as an anchor for a night out in the neighborhood." It's not like the restaurant really needed another review--it's been packed since it opened last month--and things are only going to get busier with imminent opening of the garden.

Bravo! That's the quickest $25 and under review I've ever seen. Nice valentine to the nabe as well. Judging by the amount of press, I think the "paper of the record" has a crush on RH. And well they should as it's a great underdog nabe to root for.

According to the owners, they have not sent out a single press release. It's all word of mouth. Kinda of quaint, no?
