Commenting Update
Looks like we'll be chalking up this security experiment to experience and putting it in the junk heap. Thanks for all input. You'll continue to see the the security code for a little while longer but you no longer need to enter anything, so please comment away.
Thanks,
B

Does NOT work with I.E. or Opera on OS X--I get the word "Loading" instead of a numerical code and entering that word gets "the numbers you entered do not match the numbers in the image".If this comment gets thriugh it means thast Foxfire is still working

Ditto what Bob said. I got the loading and was then told my entry was wrong.

IE 6, Windows XP.
I was able to post, but I'm the only poster so far to a thread that should have generated more talk. I got the security line, and posted as usual.
Tried to post using Netscape. No go. The security number doesn't appear, although the prompt to enter the code is there ...

It's working from my work computer (an evil PC running IE), but did not work from home this morning on Safari and OSX. There was a broken image instead of the security code in Safari.

Brownstoner hates macs!
My ibook won't let me comment (using safari), but my evil PC at work is fine with it.
No fair.

Too bad Mr.B--you'll have to keep deleting spam manually--bummer.It's a shame the technology wouldn't work, but I guess there are too many browsers running on too many platforms/

That appears to be the case. One spammer hit us about 1,000 times over the weekend. Ugh.
