Report from the Society for Clinton Hill Meeting

houses
Lesterhead has provided us with her notes from the Society for Clinton Hill's monthly meeting last week. Here are some of the highlights:

Fulton: The creation of the Fulton BID is in progress. Once approved, the City funds will most likely be targeted towards extra street cleaming and evening secrity.

Myrtle: The Myrtle BID has been up and running for a year, achieving great results. The BID has been working closely with the Myrtle Avenue Revitalization Project. Three new businesses will be opening shortly on Myrtle: (1) Cafe Martino, a "high-ish-end" sandwich place between Emerson and Myrtle; (2) a new Indian restaurant near Pillows Cafe; (3) a florist opening in the old Patsy's Decoration space. More Myrtle Avenue news here.

Upcoming Residential Development:
Washington and Hall - Condos
Vanderbilt and Gates - 5 story, 8 unit condos
175 Vanderbilt (Myrtle) - 4-story homes
481 Washington - 1/2 affordable, 1/2 market rate
537 Washington - Affordable and market rate housing
Waverly (Myrtle and Park) - 6-story Condos

I thought it was called the Clinton Hill Society.

Thanks for the Clinton Hill Society update brownstoner & Lesterhead. Now can you make it a regular feature & maybe also include the Fort Greene Assn updates as well, please?

What do people think of combining the CHS and FGA into one organization. The neighborhood's are so small that it seems there would be more critical mass if everyone worked together on initiatives...

Combining them would certainly make news communication more effective. It's difficult to keep up with all of the neighborhood news having to check so many websites/organizations/etc!

I went to the FGA meeting last night. The focus of the meeting was education. The FGA has been helping PS 20 to raise money and have organized volunteer projects like gardening on the school grounds. Council Member Tish James was there and gave an update on the Atlantic Project (which she is against) and the environmental discussions of the project which are coming up. Also, a representative from a new middle school starting this Fall on the PS 20 campus, called Academy of Arts & Letters, spoke about the goals of the new school. The FGA newsletter (which can be downloaded from their website) had an interesting update on the Carlton lot development plans-- which I was particularly interested in.

Did anyone notice that that funky new build at 364 Myrtle is up on corcoran now? The place looks pretty interesting but also seems too expensive to me.

That's going to be the subject of the Set Speed Condo Report, so lots of time to discuss!
