Looking through I believe PS 261 from Dean Street through to Pacific. Great school, btw. One of the public greats that have made bklyn a draw for families.

That is definitely 261. They are about to rip out the school yard for a much needed renovation. Party at Micro Museum Friday night (6-9) to raise money to provide arts for kids during recess since they won't be able to go outside.

Do you know when the schoolyard renovation is slated to begin? I live right across the street. I hate the idea of more construction...but hey, if it's good for the kids in the end, I'm all for it.

re: Bushwick piece...
it gets very tiring when "journalist" come to a very isolated section of Bushwick, see that it's not like Bedford Ave. and dub it an "apocalyptic death trap" or something incredibly dumb. Just for the record, there are industrial sections of the hood wherein you will find shitty lofts, but also very posh lofts that are inching up in price all the time, quiet residential areas, and sections that are very busy and bustling. Are these people blind? Well I guess the truth just isn't a good story right?

gurple... I hear you. But, you know maybe it is better for the others to stay away and continue thinking it's an apocalypse? Sometimes I think it is.

I suppose so but I love my hood and hate hearing it getting trashed by people who duck in..see no sushi joints....and trash it. It has changed over here alot in the past few years and there have been many many new residents making it there home. The amenities that most hoods have are finally coming and I think its' really great.

it has changed in the last two years. i have been especially happy with the city-sponsored (bank sponsored?)renovations of multi-family buildings around where i am (off the jefferson stop) it is nice to see the potential that exitst in these old building realized. plus i like northeast kingdom.
