NY post article about women with groceries on the seat.
Does MTA give tickets to super fat people who spill over on next seat?
I think they should; if they ticket someone whose bag is taking extra seat it is the same thing.
But too be fair obese people should have an option to buy double fare.
It could be nice way to make them lose few pounds (improve health).

I think the people who cross their legs and kick the people who are trying to hold on for dear life during rush hour should be ticketed...

Malymis - you're sounding a bit self-righteous, condescending and mean-spirited.

Yeah, and what about those members of the male gender who gap their legs so wide open when sitting that they take up another seat?

Anonymous what happened to your sense of humor?
My comment was ironic but also there is something unfair when someone super fat is taking two seats in crowded train
Sorry to offend you, do you have weight problem yourself?

Posted by: malymis at February 1, 2006 4:06 PM

What you may call a sense of humor could also be called sadistic.

malymis,
i'm sure your offensive fat person is more than aware of the space they take up, and don't need you to be a mean spirited jerk to remind them. your comment is not ironic or in the least bit funny. making fun of fat people is the last ligitimate prejudice. how far we've fallen.

What about people who feel entitled to wrap themselves around the poles on a crowded train totally ignoring you while you're trying to find a "polite" place to grasp the pole??? As for obese people who take up more than one seat, I feel sorry for them. It's a terrible, unhealthy burden. They do need help.

Sometimes it makes me sick how politically correct people in NYC are.
Fats are fat because they are neglecting themselves and eat crap.
It is mostly they fault and I am not feeling very sorry for them.
You can say they are fat because they are poor, but I am not sure. There are a lot of poor people around the world that are not obese.
Americans, even poor have all the advantages of living in US and they should be able to take care of themselves.
If not it means they are just stupid.

Who said anything about fat people being so because they are poor? You seem to be the only one who has made that connection. What's that about?

Anon 12:18, you are so right about the pole wrappers. :)

i am not sure, somebody told me that obesity is a sign of poverty in this country, but i think is more like lack of respect for your body.(witch is stupid thing to do)

Agree about the pole wrappers and the wide legged men. The leg crossers are uncool too, but less common. Re: the 'fat people' - I'll leave that one alone. I have a friend who is fat and it is such a source of misery for her. Unfortunately the unhealthy habits started when she was young and she just cannot to shake them. She does try -gym 6 days a week, but it is so hard for her. Not being PC -but we should all be careful how we judge.

I know I'm 2 days late on this, but as a subway nerd I have to say that this fan plant is not abandoned! It merely has some beat up lettering on it. It's there to suck smoke out of (or maybe blow fresh air into? the under-river tunnel if there's a fire or something.
