A Little Housekeeping

First of all, a big thanks to the hundred or so people who made it out to Design Within Reach in Brooklyn Heights to hear us tell renovation war stories. We had fun meeting everyone and fielding questions afterwards. The topic that got the most air time? Clanging radiators.

Secondly, ever since we switched servers last fall, the log-in function on My Brownstone has been down. Well, we finally got it fixed so we hope to see a wave of pent-up demand unleashed on the DIY site. For the uninitiated, the My Brownstone feature (reachable on the nav bar at the top of the page) lets readers create home pages for their own houses. Whether your house is in pristine shape and you just want to show it off or you're just getting started on a messy renovation, we encourage you to sign up and start uploading your photos and stories.

Lastly, like many of you, we have Monday off and won't be blogging.

Also wanted to thank you for the event last night, and DWR for hosting. Inspired us to take a closer look into Clinton Hill, and re-evaluate exactly what we are looking for. Would have liked to hear some more detail about your project and a few more of your stories, rather than the audiences, but appreciate that everyone seemed genuinely excited about the topic, and i guess that's what the blog is for. I'll check the archive.

can we start a brownstoners group therapy meeting? how great would that be... i was greatly reassured listining to stories that made sense to me....i want more.....loved seeing J. Brownstoner and wife....let's start a house swaping feature.....i give you photos of my small scale reno for photos of you small scale reno..

i thought it was great that so many people are renovating brownstones (like I did 30 years ago).I've had real estate brokers tell me that buyers now are only interested in pristine "finished" houses--I'm glad they're wrong--especially since my house isn't "finished" after 31 years and probably never will be :-)
