More Professionals Moving to the South Slope

poster
You can down-zone all you want but it's hard to stand in the way of good old capitalism. In fact, given this sign on 3rd Avenue and 24th Street, we not even sure the wife will let us go to Lowe's again on our own.

It is too bad, actually. If there is one neighborhood in all of NYC that would actually benefit from a whore house, it is Park Slope.

Wow, what a smart person is on our planet, it is such a pity that he is hiding under anonymous postings on some real estate blog.

Posted by: Mentch at January 31, 2006 9:52 AM

Yeah, and you are not hiding behind the moniker Mentch at all, are you? LOL!!

Posted by: Anonymous at January 31, 2006 10:07 AM

shouldn't we really just be arguing about whether or not this actually qualifies as "South Slope"...???

Posted by: pk at January 31, 2006 10:28 AM

I agree with 09:38 AM. PS could use a whore house. Chances are, that is the only kind of house working people will ever be able to afford there.

Posted by: Dittmer at January 31, 2006 10:41 AM

Seriously, PS would be the ideal spot for a whore house. Think of all those families, with husbands who never see any action (except of course with the wife, but does that even *count* as action anymore?).

Posted by: Anonymous at January 31, 2006 10:48 AM

Shut up about where a whore house belongs. I feel bad for these poor people who have had to deal with this to the extent they put a sign on their own front door. I wouldn't want to have to deal with this nor would I want my kids to have to deal with this. What a bunch of insensitive cads.

Posted by: Anonymous at January 31, 2006 12:12 PM

What I object to here is the assumption that a house cannot be both a family house AND a whore house. I am sick of the narrowminded conceptions of family that pervade Amerika.

Posted by: Anonymous at January 31, 2006 12:16 PM

It sounds like since there is already an available customer base for this building, it would be in the families best interets to have mom take on the extra work- I mean, college doesn't pay for itself...

I used to know a real estate agent/whore who worked in Park Slope.

She'd do anything for a commission -- I mean anything!

Posted by: Anonymous at January 31, 2006 12:29 PM

12:12 PM, you need to learn some manners. The earlier poster didn\'t say anything to make light of the inconvenience caused for the people who live in this house. All he said was that Park Slope could use a good whore house, and it\'s perfectly fine to speculate about what kinds of businesses different neighborhoods need. If I think PS needs a hotel or a bakery or a whore house, I\'ll damned well say so.

Posted by: Anonymous at January 31, 2006 12:58 PM

South Slope? What the hell happened to calling it what it is? Sunset Park?

Posted by: Anonymous at January 31, 2006 1:00 PM

if anyone's interested, i know a REALLY good whore house in park slope

Posted by: tom at January 31, 2006 1:01 PM

I am definitely interested. Please email the particulars to jaywalker500@yahoo.com and do not tell my wife.

Posted by: Anonymous at January 31, 2006 1:12 PM

Aren't they calling it Greenwood Terrace these days?

A friend who used to live it that area called it Park Nope, but the real estate agents never warmed to that one.

Posted by: Jesse at January 31, 2006 1:14 PM

What Prat Slope really needs is some cute stores selling handbags and scarves for snooty chicks. Maybe a thai place too...

Screw the old school residents, all you over 40 working-class types should get out and stop making the yuppies, breeders and hipsters feel uncomfortable.

Posted by: Pauly at January 31, 2006 1:26 PM

Hey 12:16pm, what about the dad taking on extra work?

Right on 12:36!

Love,

Mz Manners

Posted by: Mz Manners at January 31, 2006 1:36 PM

Excuse me, how do you know all the over-40s are working class?

Posted by: Anonymous at January 31, 2006 1:40 PM

I've been a whore. Trust me, it's much more humiliating to have commented on a post about Park Slope. The shame!

Posted by: B.E.D. at January 31, 2006 2:06 PM

Haven't the ever-inventive realtors dubbed the neighborhood under discussion Greenwood Heights? I know I've heard it called that several times in the past six months or so (but never before then). As new-fangled names go, it's not a bad one, as the area abuts Greenwood Cemetery.

Posted by: Peter W. at January 31, 2006 2:20 PM

Isn't every here going to start arguing that the City of New York should set the prices for the whorehouse and then start to complain that poor "artists" are now being priced out of it?

Posted by: JoshK at January 31, 2006 3:03 PM

I have a special name for 24th & 3rd Ave: Apocalyptic-Dungeon-Under-the-BQE. But what a fruit stand!

Posted by: Pietrocelli at January 31, 2006 3:17 PM

Whore house or not, like it or not, area's called "Greenwood Hights." At least it's what we "over 40, working class folks" call it now. BTW, in this day in age, define "working class," since there is little to no more "middle class." I work, make a modest salary (no 6 figures for this boy), aren't I "working class?"

Posted by: correctamundo at January 31, 2006 3:46 PM

Call it what you will. It beats Lefferts.

Posted by: Anonymous at January 31, 2006 4:17 PM

real estate agents are pure evil.

and obviously neither the women of ps or sunset park are putting out.

Posted by: Anonymous at January 31, 2006 4:18 PM

I heard once that there was a secret bordello in the Dee & Dee building on the southwest corner of 14th Street and Fifth Ave. In the top floors, where there were once no windows. (It's being renovated now, and windows have been punched out.) Anyone hear this one? I also heard there was another bordello just up the street between Fifth and Sixth on 14th.

Posted by: Adam at January 31, 2006 4:32 PM

My name is Bob and I hereby declare that the area around 3rd Avenue and 24th Street is now, and will forever be known as, Bobtown. I will now commence collecting rent from the whores.

Posted by: Bob at January 31, 2006 5:27 PM

You know, if you're going to make fun of Park Slope, you can at least say where you live, so we can make fun of it too. Its only fair.

Posted by: Matt at January 31, 2006 6:58 PM

Hey, I have an idea...

Perhaps the whorehouse can hire Scarano Architects to build a new, iconoclastic structure on 24th and 3rd much like Ft. Greene's "Phallus" building? ( http://brownstoner.com/brownstoner/archives/2006/01/silver_phallus.html)

Stiff grounds for a new lucrative "development" project in my book. Think of the views you'd get while being screwed.

Posted by: gottalovebob at January 31, 2006 7:31 PM

I think a whorehouse would fail in Parkslope. Too many dykes(Except for my Girlfriend)

Posted by: william at January 31, 2006 8:11 PM

10:48am is a whining pussy. these poor people, and what they are going through...WAHHHHHHHH, WAHHHHHHHHHH. this story made my day, and i would argue that the people should be a bit more open minded to entrepeneurial businesses (i thought brooklyn was the home of free thinking, free love, and liberal non conformist idealogies). And if you or the people living there dont want to deal with it, then fucking move. No one is forcing them to live there, i live in CT, and unfortunately there isnt a whorehouse in sight. I bet my neighborhood would be a lot less high strung and have a lot of much happier husbands if there was a whorehouse close by.

Posted by: snoop at January 31, 2006 9:38 PM

Does anyone know when the WHORE FOODS is going to open on 3rd Avenue?

Posted by: Full Organic Release at January 31, 2006 9:52 PM

You have to admire the flawless spelling in the sign, not to mention the penmanship.

Posted by: Anonymous at January 31, 2006 9:55 PM

Should have writen the sign in spanish

Posted by: Anonymous at January 31, 2006 10:15 PM

Who nees a whore house on 3rd? In my day we'd just pull up to the hookers on the avenue and they'd service us in our car or behind a dumpster or something. Kept the overhead for the hookies down and was as fast as a McDonald's drive through for us Johns.
Beside what idiot would live on 3rd avenue and expect anything less?

Posted by: Anonymous at January 31, 2006 11:20 PM

and this house is on the next block! Where did my neighborhood go and who are you people?

Posted by: but i live in sunset park at February 1, 2006 7:59 AM

oh and by the way there is an after hours strip club behind the wonderful fruit and vegetable stand (open 24 hours). Get your xxx on and then get your shop on. who needs park slope?
