Meier Gets Out His Shovel on Eastern Parkway

We're a little late on the draw, but Blogger Transfer is very excited that the excavation has begun over at 1 Eastern Parkway (isn't the address 17 Eastern Parkway or1 Prospect Park?), which he proclaims The site of Brooklyn. Last we heard, the Richard Meier tower overlooking Grand Army Plaza was slated to top out at 30 stories but there seemed to be some confusion about that fact. Transfer reminds us that prices are expected to start at $1,000 a foot which sounds like a lay-up to us at this point. This'll be by far the best modern apartment building in the borough.

You have fallen off. It looks like Meier is not coming to brooklyn after all. The architect on this project is Stephen B. Jacobs. The same architect who did that horrible building at 53 Boerum Place. From the D.OB permits the building is now 11 stories. So much for hype!

if it's a Meier building it might look good, but it's going to be leaking like crazy like the rest of his buildings

Some folks in Prospect Heights aren't happy about the barricade...

Your comment is too succinct.

Your criticism of the previous comment is an even more absurd example of brevity in criticism. Your comment is outrageous, and should be boycotted by all right-thinking members of our community!

MY comment is outrageous? That's it, I'm drafting a strongly worded letter to Letitia James.

Great. More piling on by the hipster gentry.

Hey qtrain, thanks for the out-loud-chuckle ;)

To the first commenter. Where did you get that information? There are no DOB permits for the actual contruction yet, only excavation, retaining wall etc. There are permits for the height, but that is independent of the architect, can you point to some evidence of Stephen's role in the project?? Thanks!

yes, we right-minded sensible folk must show scorn for any and all who care about their neighborhoods' public spaces. if you care about anything other than the inside of your own home, you must be ridiculous.

Sure Dave, just copy and paste the link in your browser. The 1st permit is a filing for excavation and foundation along with the construction fence. The 2nd is for a metes and bounds reconsideration which also stipulates the height and overal sq/ft of the development.
