House of the Day: Cheapest Brownstone Around
The alarm system at Brownstoner HQ is wired to go off whenever a brownstone under $500,000 hits the market, so the lights started flashing when this little guy hit the market this week. Tiny? Yes. Out there? For sure. Yet there's still something intriguing about this prop. As built, the house is only about 1,600 square feet, but there's some extra FAR that would enable a 1,300 square foot addition. We nosed around Property Shark and couldn't deduce the exact address so hopefully someone can help us out. The description implies that the interior has some historic details left but, as everyone knows, we are very suspicious of listings in this day and age which don't include a representative sample of photos. Although the place needs a new front door, the original iron fence and railings appear to be intact.

Could be 150 Hull? Or maybe 142?

Rockaway Avenue stop? That's not gentrified Bed-Stuy in the least.

For this price I think you have to bring your own gentrification

" situated in a very quiet and ever-transforming area with many new developments"
Ever-transforming is agent speak for "not entirely safe".

Getting shot is a big new development. Transform you to dead. The gunshot very loud but only last a second. Once you dead, very quiet.

And the number one precinct in the city for handguns, according to the Post.

I guess the verdict's in, huh?

Actually, it's more Ocean Hill/Brownsville than ENY, but could be thought of as the edge of Bed-Stuy. Brownsville was up there too in the handgun statistics (3rd or 4th I think).
I wouldn't say the verdict is necessarily out, just more information needed. What's up with Halstead not disclosing the address? Is this an open listing?

What is a B1 classification?

You're going to need not only your square glasses but also a snub-nosed barrel.

east new york is a really sad neighborhood. they need a nice children's library, among other things.

Looks like Ocean Hill, a subsection of Bed-Stuy
