Early 19th Century Brooklyn Heights Landscape

Artist Francis Guy painted Summer View of Brooklyn (oil on canvas), in about 1820; it's now in the museum collection of the Brooklyn Historical Society. This is a view seen from the window at 11 Front Street--right under what is now the Brooklyn Bridge. Although Guy made several other versions, this is the only known summer scene.

There's a huge version of this painting in the Brooklyn Museum. Painted from the same perspective but a winter scene with people on the street, which I guess you're alluding to when you said what you posted is the only summer scene.
It's on the "American Perspectives" floor right in the first room. Very interesting.
