Bed Stuy Church of the Day

We took a walk around the western edge of Beford Stuyvesant yesterday morning just as church services were getting underway. Every day this week we'll serve up an example of the varied architectural forms that these houses of worship take.

Good comment. We shall see if your prediction becomes a reality in Bed Stuy. This has come to fruition in Fort Greene.

In 10 years? Highly doubtful, if it happens at all. Chev, what churches in Ft. Greene have been turned into condos during the past decade, let alone half of them?

Does anyone know what the name of this church is and where it is located?

in cobble hill, the arches at cobble hill used to be in a church, i think. also, in prospect heights, on bergen, i think, between vanderbilt and underhill, a church was turned into apartments.

i know these aren't in ft greene, but just some examples that i know of.

not true at all, there is a different callabur of church folks in the bed-stuy area. These churches will never be turned into condos. Religion to some of these folks, is the only thing that they can depend on.

There churches in Fort Green that are currently being worked on that I think will soon turn into condos or some form of high end rental units. One space that comes to mind is a block through church (fronts on Carlton Ave. or Adelphi St. between Willoughby Ave. and DeKalb Ave. that has a huge parking lot in the back) that is currently being worked . I think there is another church on Cumberland St. that is also under construction. I could be wrong but I doubt it. I recall approximately 2 years ago when I lived in the nabe that these churches would probably be made into condo spaces and the last time I did a walk through I certainly witnessed the signs of development taking place at these sites. BTW - Take a look at the Cathedral Condominium for sale on Washington Ave. and Atlantic Ave. by Corcoran. I also remember a big Cathedral/Gothic building located on Clinton Ave. between Dekalb Ave. and Willoughby Ave. having apartments for sale some time ago. Off course these places are in Clinton Hill. Lastly, I think if the church is not currently strong Or is currently not boarded up… it will only be a matter of time.
