Today on My Brownstone: Public Auction Score

The owner of today's Central Slope house won it at public auction back in October 2004. Since then, he and his wife have been focusing on the interior renovation, including a gut of the parlor floor. In addition, they are digging the floor in the cellar and adding a roofdeck to capitalize on the expansive views. Take a tour today on My Brownstone.

Thanks! I'll post pictures when the renovation is done. I'm as curious as anyone to see how the doorways will work when they get put back in. Good guess on the fireplace - it is behind the plywood. When I can get back in there I'll strip the horrible pink paint the previous owner lathered on it.

You are very lucky to move on this block. You have fabulous neighbors on either side of you. There is an extremely strong block association that is very social. There are great events for kids such as block parties, Christmas dinners. Oops! holiday dinners and holiday caroling.
The best thing of all is that you will be able to see Bruce Ratner's hideous Atlantic Yards monstrosity from your roof deck. It will be just like living on the Upper Westside.
Good wishes on your renovation. Your choice of contractor shows that you have good taste.

Are you intending to put the original ceiling and moldings back up? It would be criminal not to do so!

Thanks Paul - I could not agree more about the block - it is why we bought this place. As far as the tim ceilings and original moldings go, we are saving some of both. However, we are opening up the parlor floor and we felt that the tin ceiling would just darken the room. Send the police :-)

I doubt that the tin ceiling & mouldings are original. I really like the before & after pictures of the first floor. The before looks like a (guess here) 1920's renovation to me, the arch between rooms, and the unspectacular tin ceiling pattern. Good luck with the reno. As a Real Estate peeping tom (someone who is always craning my neck looking into other peoples windows in order to check out the interiors) I gotta say, I love the "my brownstone" feature. Real Estate Porn at it's best.
