More Brooklyn-based government officials are holding public meetings following Donald Trump’s travel ban.

City Council Member Jumaane Williams, New York State Senator Kevin S. Parker, Assembly Member Rodneyse Bichotte and District Leader Josue Pierre will hold a forum on Trump’s ban and what changes might occur under his presidency and how their constituents can prepare for it. The goal of the forum is to help people “organize over the next four years,” according to a statement from Williams’ office.

The forum will offer free legal services and dive into how to prepare for an immigration raid and how Caribbean immigrants can organize. There will also be information about citizenship family based petitions, immigration fraud and family reunification, DACA/DAPA Asylum Filing, fee changes, Temporary Protected Status (TPS), and deportation.

There will also be a panel discussion with representatives from city agencies and community groups to answer questions from the audience on the subject of immigrant rights and any potential changes in immigration policy nationwide.

This forum is not the only discussion on how Trump’s ban will affect immigrants in Brooklyn this week. At the Brooklyn Museum this Thursday, activist Linda Sarsour will headline a panel on immigrant rights and discuss the ban’s impacts. Earlier this month, Council Member Robert Cornegy Jr. and Congresswoman Yvette Clarke held similar meetings.

The event will take place Wednesday, February 8, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Flatbush YMCA at 1401 Flatbush Avenue. It is co-sponsored by the YMCA, New York Immigration Coalition, Haitian American Lawyers Association of New York, Haitian American Caucus, and the Council of People’s Organization.
