From mid June to early July, Brooklyn will be awash in not just heat but also free concerts, with SummerStage’s recently announced lineup bringing a plethora of performers — including Chairlift, Blonde Redhead, Public Enemy and more — to the borough. Concerts make up the majority of the events, but there will also be movie screenings, opera recitals and dance performances.

The various happenings will span five borough parks: Coffey Park, located at the edge of Red Hook by IKEA, the pint-sized Saratoga Park and somewhat larger Herbert Von King Park in Bed Stuy, Betsy Head Park in Brownsville, and Brooklyn Bridge Park on the Dumbo waterfront.

Expect the type of crowd and event popularity to vary widely, with some performances likely to be packed and standing-room only, while other shows and screenings may be best enjoyed from a picnic blanket.
