Chef Saul Bolton has finally opened his red sauce joint, aptly called Red Gravy, at 151 Atlantic Avenue between Clinton and Henry Streets. Pardon Me For Asking checks out the menu, which “includes various antipasti choices, charcuterie and cheese selections, as well as primi and second dishes, such as spicy lamb, rabbit with roasted baby carrots, cippolini onions, and heritage pork with cranberry beans and turnips,” and Eater takes a tour of the space itself. A bar/music venue is slated for 1008 Cortelyou Avenue, just off Coney Island Avenue. It’s called Bar Chord and will sell drinks, snacks, guitar supplies and vintage guitars. Construction should be starting up this week. A vacant space is available at 1002 Cortelyou Road, where an auto parts store once was. And not too far away in Kensington, pizzeria 620 on Caton is for sale.
In Park Slope, Moutarde is merely closed for renovations, despite suspicions that the restaurant had closed for good when paper went up on the windows. An Indian Restaurant opened on the corner of Franklin Avenue and Sterling in Crown Heights. The espresso and coffee cafe called Tugboat is just about ready to open in Prospect Lefferts Gardens. Monk Bar & Pizzeria opened at 291 Kent Avenue, the old Mercado on Kent space, in Williamsburg. And in Red Hook, great news! Both The Good Fork and Homemade, Van Brunt Street favorites, reopened after significant damage from Hurricane Sandy.
