Hurricane Sandy
NY1 profiles the businesses that are still struggling to open before Christmas, and reports that Randazzo’s Clam Bar should reopen by this Friday. Mile End’s Noah Bernamoff is still cleaning up and made this video about his experience during the storm and what’s next for the popular restaurant. Coney bar Cha Cha’s will reopen after Sandy wrecked the interior, although the owner has no promised date. Another Coney Island joint, the pizzeria Totonno’s, needs $150,000 to rebuild although by now the heating, plumbing and oven have been repaired. They hope to open by mid-January. And the Red Hook Rec Center will reopen this Saturday and celebrate with a family-friendly event open to the public. (Pictured above, photo via NYC Parks.)

Park Slope
Rita Knox Realty is closed for biz on the corner of 5th Avenue and Carroll Street. French bistro Moutarde has papered over its windows. Miami Yardbird, a popular southern joint now located in Florida, is eyeing Park Slope for a potential expansion. And in nearby Greenwood Heights, a Turkish restaurant called Taksim 2 is opening at 776 4th Avenue, at 26th Street.

Elsewhere
Brooklyn Industries opened up in Ditmas Park today! The doors will be open from 11 am to 8 pm. The New Orleans-inspired pop-up Tchoup Shop set up a permanent kitchen in Bushwick at the bar Heavy Woods. The pop-up had previously been operating on weekends at d.b.a Brooklyn. Sheepshead Bay gets a Thai restaurant. Finally, Brooklyn Based profiles the new Balinese restaurant in Greenpoint, the brainchild of the team behind Van Leeuwen Artisan Ice Cream.
