Hurricane Sandy
Businesses are still reeling from the damages caused by the storm last week. Despite the New York Post reporting that Fairway will take at least two months to reopen in Red Hook, we hear it on good authority that the actual opening date is December 15, 2012. (Photo via TheGirlsNY.) Newish Gowanus restaurant Lavender Lake has thoroughly cleaned out the Gowanus Canal waters. The owners are still waiting on the city to learn what needs to be done to ensure the bar is free of toxins and chemicals. Emmons Avenue’s Roll-n-Roaster opened quickly after the storm with minimal damage. And it looks like Sunny’s Bar in Red Hook plans to open next Friday or Saturday. Finally, these Williamsburg restaurants will donate some of their proceeds to Hurricane Sandy relief this Thursday, Nov. 8 — and all you have to do is go there and eat and drink!

Park Slope
Beygl, a bagel shop, opened on Fifth Avenue between First and Second streets. According to Here’s Park Slope, “Bagels are hand-rolled, kettle-boiled and baked in-house, and are made fresh in small batches throughout the day.” An eco-friendly boutique called Bhoomki opened on 5th between Degraw and Douglass. And The Soup Bowl opened for its third year in the Uncle Louie G ice cream spot on 7th Avenue.

Elsewhere
A sushi restaurant is coming to the old Oh My Pasta space on Montague in Brooklyn Heights. Over in Carroll Gardens, beloved pizza restaurant Lucali will close for a few months (the exact timeframe isn’t set) for renovations. Eater takes a tour of the new Italian restaurant Antica Pesa, now open on Berry Street in Williamsburg. Fletcher’s Brooklyn Barbecue made its Gowanus debut last Friday.
