The votes are in, and the 22nd annual Greenest Block in Brooklyn contest winner is Flatbush’s East 25th Street between Clarendon Road and Avenue D. For 22 years now, the Brooklyn Botanic Garden has been hosting the contest — a face-off of window boxes and planters — in an attempt to make Brooklyn cleaner and greener, and to bring communities together.

Borough President Eric Adams congratulated the winners at a press conference on the block Tuesday morning. Second place went to Sterling Place between 7th and Flatbush avenues in Park Slope, and the block of Lincoln Road between Bedford and Rogers avenues in Prospect Lefferts Gardens won third.

More than 150 blocks from 25 neighborhoods entered the contest this year, according to the Botanic Garden. Flatbush is the most-awarded neighborhood in Brooklyn, with seven of the 22 titles going to the area’s blocks, followed by Bed Stuy, which has won four.

This is not the first time East 25th Street between Clarendon Road and Avenue D has won the highly competitive award, and last year it placed second in the contest.
