It’s been a familiar refrain from politicians, activists and just regular folks for years: Residents of lower income neighborhoods around New York City have notoriously bad access to fresh food, particularly when it comes to fruits and vegetables. So this bit of news for the Lewis Avenue corridor of Bed Stuy should be welcome. According to a reader (who nicely took these photos) the Green Gourmet Market on the corner of Lewis and Halsey (across the street from Saraghina) has begun a relationship with Grow NYC, the group that operates numerous green markets around the city, to make farm-fresh produce available to the community seven days a week. Sounds like great news to us!
