Closing Bell: Smorgasburg Opens With Oysters at Jones Beach This Weekend

This summer’s food and drink options at Jones Beach are about to expand, because Smorgasburg is bringing a beer garden and food vendors to the Central Mall, near the main entrance. SmorgasBar: Brooklyn by the Beach will feature large tents and a sandy play area for games like badminton, bocce and ping-pong. A shipping container bar will serve a raw bar by Brooklyn Oyster Party, a selection of beers from Long Island breweries, and Kelvin Slush Co. frozen drinks.
Four food vendors will be stationed at the beach from Memorial Day through Labor Day: Handsome Hank’s Fish Hut (fish and chips, clams, shrimp), Home Frite (Belgian-style fries and sausage), Nolita pizza restaurant Rubirosa, and South Williasmburg juice and taco joint Summers.
SmorgasBar: Brooklyn by the Beach will be open Friday through Sunday from May 23 to June 15 (plus Monday, May 26), then daily through Labor Day. Tentative hours are 11 am to 9 pm.
