A Not-So-Secret Jehovah’s Witnesses Underground Tunnel in Brooklyn Heights Is No More!

At least one branch of Brooklyn Heights’ not-so-secret tunnels is gone. For years, four private underground tunnels have connected numerous Jehovah’s Witnesses buildings in the neighborhood. The one leading to an apartment building at 124 Columbia Heights was filled in with Foamcrete, a low-density mixture of concrete and plastic, on Monday, April 17, longtime Brooklyn Heights resident Andrew Porter told Brownstoner.

Tenants of Crown Heights Jewish Hospital Complex Wary as City and Landlord Work Out Deal

When Andrew Cahill moved into the Jewish Hospital complex, off Classon Avenue in Crown Heights, he had a clear understanding with his landlord: His apartment was rent regulated. That didn’t change as he moved from one of the six buildings to another in 2011, as the complex manager informed him and his then-girlfriend the terms of the lease wouldn’t change.
