Actors, fashionistas and real estate big wigs gathered on Pier 2 on a balmy fall evening last Thursday for the annual Brooklyn Black Tie Ball. Attendees, garbed in the recommended “Brooklyn Black Tie” — aka fun and not so formal — partied against the backdrop of the New York skyline to raise $1.1 million for the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy, a record for the event.

The fundraising party on October 7 was co-hosted this year by Diane and Mark Baker, Paula and Hayden Dunbar, Bella Mancini and Kate Smith. Comedian Wyatt Cenac acted as emcee for the evening, entertaining the crowd of 800, which included actors Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys of The Americans, and Marcus Wainwright of Rag & Bone.

Barry S. Sternlicht, CEO of Starwood Capital Group and behind 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge Park, was the honoree of the evening. Sternlicht has provided philanthropic support for the Conservancy’s free public programs in the park. Unable to attend the evening, Sternlicht shared his thoughts via a pre-recorded video. The evening also included a toast to Regina Myer, the outgoing president of the park.

Proceeds from the annual event to to support the Brooklyn Bridge Conservancy’s free cultural and educational activities in the park. To see more photos of the evening, check out the Conservancy’s Flickr page.
