The artfully placed bicycle seems to be the Brooklyn stoop accessory of the summer and fall. Instagram feeds have been filling up with captures of riderless bicycles lounging against the classic stoops and fences of Brooklyn neighborhoods.

Symbols of freedom, they add some liveliness to the scene and hint at enviably car-less lives within.

While most have been photographed in the always popular and picturesque neighborhood of Brooklyn Heights, Brownstoner has also spotted charming bike-adorned stoops in such neighborhoods as Clinton Hill, Cobble Hill, Greenpoint, Fort Green and Park Slope.
