Most of the time, you do just fine without a car. But…maybe the weather is lousy, or you have to do just a little more shopping than you can carry, or maybe you don’t feel like braving the weekend trains.
Coworkrs offers coworking memberships, desks, and private office suites in Gowanus, FiDi and Flatiron NYC. Be 'At Home at Work'
Created By BlankSlate
In some parts of the world, maybe, the word “work” conjures up images of business suits in a dreary commute to do 9 to 5 at cookie cutter cubicles in a drab office.
This, however, is Brooklyn, where we work at creative and innovative jobs, and demand office spaces to match.
The new Coworkrs Gowanus space is a great example. As with other successful Coworkrs spaces in Flatiron and the Financial District, the Gowanus location offers freelancers and small businesses a light-filled, airy coworking space, with open common areas, conference rooms, and kitchens that put most office break rooms to shame.
But what really makes this space special is its carefully thought-out design. We talked to some of the architects and artists that worked together to give this converted warehouse its unique look, and make Coworkrs Gowanus an ideal HQ for creatives and entrepreneurs of all stripes.

The holiday season doth approach, and you’ve got a lot to do. Between Thanksgiving and the New Year, you’ve got the turkey, the lights, the tree, the Hanukkah candles, the plane tickets, the wrapping paper… In all the excitement, are you forgetting something?
While you’re compiling your holiday to-do list, make sure that “get your apartment insured” is somewhere near the top. Unfortunately, ’tis the season for break-ins while you’re away on vacation, cooking accidents, and home fires caused by Christmas lights, candles, dry trees and fireplaces. Fortunately, getting your apartment insured may be the easiest item to check off your to-do list. Gotham Brokerage Co., Inc. has been New York City’s most trusted source for apartment insurance for over fifty years, and they will work with you to find the best policy.
Ask any Brooklyn parent: finding the right school for your kids is one of the most important things you can do for them, and that starts as early as preschool. If you’re looking into making that decision for next year, you should have the Brooklyn Preschool of Science on your radar. Carmelo Piazza (a.k.a. Carmelo the Science Fellow) founded the original Cobble Hill location in 2012 and has just opened a second school in Park Slope.

There are a lot of things vying for your attention as you walk into the school. There’s the 450 gallon fish tank, the animatronic stuffed dinosaur, the pixel peg LED light board. But mostly what you notice is Carmelo himself, his energy and how much the kids love him. They shriek his name, barrel headlong into his legs, and beg for high-fives.

Fall is one of Brooklyn’s best seasons. The trees lining our streets and parks are dressed in their glorious autumnal finery, the temperature drops enough that we can finally wear our nice sweaters and jackets, and the smell of wood burning isn’t limited to artisanal pizzerias. In the neighborhoods of Clinton Hill and Fort Greene, fall means beautiful sights in Fort Greene Park, fun Halloween events, and going down Myrtle Avenue with a pumpkin latte to keep your hands warm.
It’s in this area that you can find Navy Green, a brand-new block of townhomes and market-rate condos. To really appreciate this vibrant part of Brooklyn that could become your new neighborhood, here are five things to do this autumn in Fort Greene and Clinton Hill.
Show Clinton Hill You Scare
On the front lawn of 313 Clinton Street, this elaborate live show Halloween 313 has been entertaining thousands of visitors every October 31 since 1994. Past years’ themes have included “Pirates of the Scaribbean,” “Carnival of Carnage,” and “ApoCALYPSO,” and this year’s is “Malice in Underland.” The talented cast and crew, led by “Halloween lady” Janna Kennedy, create this spooky spectacle “for the love of their community and the Halloween spirit.”

Since 2008, MySpace NYC has helped thousands of clients successfully navigate one of the world’s most fast-paced and in-demand real estate markets

Let’s face it. Some of us weren’t made for desk jobs. We’d rather be our own bosses, with fun co-workers, lots of opportunity for advancement, fresh air, and the chance to meet interesting people.
Oh, and also you’ll able to preview some of the coolest apartments in Brooklyn. That’s nice isn’t it?
MySpace NYC agents aren’t the usual desk jockeys meeting quotas — they’re ambassadors for their neighborhoods.
Now there are currently over 130 agents at MySpace, and that number is growing daily. They’re a young, eclectic bunch — including actors, musicians, bar owners, film-makers, and photographers — and they know their way around Brooklyn. Most of them live in the neighborhoods they work in, and they will do whatever they can to help their new neighbors find a home, and get settled and acquainted with the area.
If they sound like your kind of people, you’re in luck. MySpace NYC is looking for new agents.
City Tower is now leasing studio, 1-, and 2-bedroom apartments in the heart of Downtown Brooklyn.

It’s one of the most anticipated projects in Brooklyn’s most dynamic neighborhood, and you can get in at the beginning. City Tower, the market-rate residential component of the City Point Development in Downtown Brooklyn is now open for leasing.
City Point will combine 1.8 million square feet of retail, commercial, and luxury residential space. Retail tenants already include Century 21 Department Store, Trader Joe’s, City Target, DeKalb Market Hall, and Alamo Drafthouse Cinema. Already the development promises to be an in-demand Brooklyn destination with convenient access to 12 subway lines, the BAM Cultural District, and Atlantic Terminal.
The interiors of City Tower have been designed to reflect Brooklyn’s unique sensibility and make use of the work of local artisans. Wooden joists in the lobby were reclaimed from a Williamsburg warehouse, the chandeliers come from the workshop of Lindsey Adelman, and corridors feature wallpaper from Flavor Paper.
