A little bit of the sea has just arrived in landlocked Park Slope.

From Evan Franca, owner of friend chicken joint Wangs, comes yet another Union Street eatery: Prawn Shop.

The seafoodery, adjacent to Franca’s other spot, opened earlier this month and is now serving up locally sourced fish and oysters from New York and New England as well as gulf prawns, mussels and seasonal crab with sauces inspired by East Coast, West Coast, southern and East Asian cuisine.

The restaurant also offers weekend brunch, as well as a selection of organic and biodynamic wines at the bar and, in the summer, lobster and crawfish, according to the owner.

In addition to promoting sustainable aquaculture, Prawn Shop will follow the trend of implementing a no-tipping policy, instead adding an 18 percent service charge to all checks.

This decision comes in the recent footsteps of several Brooklyn eateries that have abolished the tipping tradition, from the new Insa Korean BBQ in Gowanus to Roman’s in Fort Greene.

While it’s the most recent sea venture in the area, Prawn Shop is far from a seafood monopoly in the area, settled within blocks of Littleneck in Gowanus and Grand Central Oyster Bar around the corner on 5th Avenue.

The space, located at 669 Union Street at 4th Avenue, uses reclaimed wood, antique copper ship lights and old black-and-white family photos to create a nautical aura.
