This co-op at 25 Joralemon Street, housed in a former pumping station, offers a sweeping, loft-like living space, with a double-height ceiling in the front. Exposed steel girders, an open staircase leading to a loft and a pair of arched windows add some visual flair. There’s a working fireplace as well.
There are three levels here: said living space, which incorporates an open kitchen; said loft, which holds an office space and a “guest sleeping area”; and a second floor, which houses two bedrooms, two baths and a study.
In contrast to the vast living space, the second floor is relatively cramped, with bedrooms on the small side — both are under 10 feet wide. They each have a skylight, though, so there’s a plus, and the larger one has a dressing area and a sizable en suite bath.
The kitchen is a nice one, with a Sub-Zero fridge, a Wolf range, black granite countertops, an island, a wine fridge and white lacquered cabinets.
At the rear of the main level there’s an additional space tagged on the floor plan as a “storage area”; the listing, from Nancy Giddins at Brown Harris Stevens, cites a kids’ play area as a possible use.
There’s a washer and dryer back there as well. No natural light, though — and for that matter, the rear parts of the main level may not be light-flooded in general.
There’s a patio shared by the building’s six apartments. So, nothing to get excited about in the outdoor-space department. And some may be turned off by the close proximity to the BQE. As a consolation, though, Brooklyn Bridge Park is close at hand.
Maintenance and common charges come to $1,478 a month. The ask is $1.995 million — a $500K jump from what it sold for five years ago.
What do you think of the place?

Very cool space but the location literally abutting the highway is horrible. At least OBP owners have 15 feet between them and the highway; here there is nary an inch of separation. Unless the bedroom skylights are triple pain I’d imagine the noise from motorists honking, braking, hitting potholes, etc., will be very loud
or the pane of realizing a typo!
