Park Slope Brooklyn Apartment for Rent -- 138 Berkeley Place

If we had to sum up this five-bedroom Park Slope rental in one word it’d be this: solarium. There are other nice features of this unit, which sits at 138 Berkeley Place in the North Slope, but the large and lovely rooftop solarium is a glaring point of distinction.

There’s a mini-kitchen with a dishwasher and a wood-burning stove up there, and an adjacent terrace with a grill. There’s also a small pool (or sunken tub) in one of the pictures, though the listing doesn’t say anything about it, so it may not be functional. It’s a sweet space in any case — maybe a little chilly this time of year, but unbeatable come springtime.

Even minus the solarium it’s a pretty nice apartment, with a lot of space. There are five bedrooms plus an office, a laundry room and two baths on the top floor. (The floor plan shows no closets in any of the bedrooms, but that doesn’t really seem possible, especially since the listing promises “tons of closet space.”)

Below is a large, renovated eat-in kitchen with an island, a living room and a library with built-in bookshelves.

The place is not awash in detail, but there are moldings, parquet floors and some original woodwork. It’s on a nice leafy block, not far from the B/Q at 7th Avenue or the 2/3 at Grand Army Plaza.

Listed by Noelene Daniel of Halstead, the place is being shown at an open house this evening from 6 to 7 p.m., as well as Sunday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.

The rent is a whopping $14,000 a month, which may be a stretch even with that solarium. Or then again, maybe it’s not. Think someone will bite?

  1. people always propose this example, the loaded foreigner on corporate assignment with the family, but have you ever actually met someone like this or had them as a neighbor? not saying it doesn’t exist, I just have never actually come across it myself or heard about it happening outside the hypothetical.
