Carroll Park Christmas Tree

Brooklyn doesn’t care about having the biggest tree or the best window displays — the County of Kings instead uses its holiday spirit to help the hungry.

Come celebrate the holidays (and the remnants of tolerably cold weather) at a tree-lighting ceremony in Carroll Park this Friday, December 4. The event goes hand in hand with a food drive to benefit hungry children.

Accepted donations include canned fruits and vegetables, and jars of peanut butter. Glass items will not be accepted.

Santa will be there, along with free refreshments and a chance to win free tickets to the musicals Finding Neverland or Bright Star.

The event will begin at 5 p.m. on Valentino Ballfield. At 6 p.m. community members and elected officials will flip on the tree’s lights.

In case of rain, the lighting will be rescheduled to the following Friday, December 11.
