Brooklyn Heights House for Rent at 29 Joralemon Street

This two-bedroom parlor and garden duplex at 29 Joralemon Street in Brooklyn Heights has a lot going for it. The kitchen, on the garden level, has a wall of windows that open onto the back yard.

The garden itself is exceptionally deep at 47 feet — according to a floor plan that was published when the home was for sale back in October.

There is a living room with a fireplace and a large separate dining room. Both have charming exposed beams and wide plank floors. The bedrooms on the parlor floor are large and one even has a separate “dressing area.” There is a half bath on garden floor and a full bath on the main floor. It has a washer and dryer and central air conditioning.

The home seems be very well priced at $5,500 a month. But there is a catch: According to the listing it is only available from February 1, 2016, until June 1, 2017.

What do you think? Is that the right price for someone to enjoy this home for 16 months before they have to dip back into the vagaries of Brooklyn rental market again?

  1. There is never a guarantee of a renewal on a one year lease, which is the standard initial lease, so this is not that weird, infact it puts any potential tenants on notice; do not expect to stay for more than 16 months no matter how good a tenant you are.
But more & more I am finding tenants of apartments such as this are generally only one year and they are gone or buying and gone after a year anyway.
