Minimum Wage Court Street McDonalds

A super-sized strike and rally by New York’s fast-food industry will be going down in three locations on Tuesday, November 10, including a McDonald’s in Downtown Brooklyn.

Expected to be the American fast-food industry’s largest-ever strike, the rally will include fast-food cooks and cashiers as well as home and child care workers, adjunct professors, Black Lives Matter and immigration activists, and women’s advocates in favor of a $15 minimum wage.

The strike at the McDonald’s at 82 Court Street will begin at 6 a.m., the first of the three New York strikes, and will constitute one of 500 strikes and 270 walkouts planned nationwide on Tuesday.

Despite New York fast-food workers recently winning a $15 minimum hourly pay via Governor Cuomo’s wage board, strikers also want union rights and a broader application of the $15 minimum to all workers.
