City Reliquary Museum Library

Williamsburg’s quirky shrine to ephemera, City Reliquary, is hosting its annual celebration of strange objects and their curators.

Hoarders of strange objects, doodad collectors and passionate widget amassers will unite to share the stories behind their gizmos. The multipart, multimedia event will explore memorabilia through various avenues.

The night will begin with a presentation of retired retired Department of Sanitation worker Nelson Molina’s collection  Treasures in the Trash, followed by a screening of Kelly Adam’s One Man’s Trash and a discussion with DSNY anthropologist-in-residence Robin Nagle.

Part two will consist of a show-and-tell of collectors and their displays, ranging from jarred animals courtesy of the Morbid Anatomy Museum to Broadway artifacts and 16mm cartoons.

The event will take place from 6:30-10 p.m. on Wednesday, December 2, at the Brooklyn Historical Society at 128 Pierrepont Street. Tickets are $10, with discounts for Green-Wood and Brooklyn Historical Society members. Tickets are available online.

To display your own collection, see the City Reliquary’s website for information.
