Brooklyn Brewery Steve Hindy

Brooklyn Brewery has been a seed in Brooklyn’s transformation from lesser outer borough to branded urban mecca, and now company co-founder Steve Hindy will be speaking at St. Francis College about his hard-wrought success with the business.

Brooklyn Brewery began brewing its nationally renowned Brooklyn Lager back in 1988. Now, Hindy will be joining the ranks of such luminaries as Neil deGrasse Tyson, E.L. Doctorow and Salman Rushdie in speaking at St. Francis’s Thomas J. Volpe Lecture Series.

A former Middle East correspondent for the Associated Press, Hindy was partially inspired to create Brooklyn Brewery by his experience with Saudi Arabian diplomats who circumvented Islamic law’s ban on alcohol by home brewing.

With such a diverse array of life experiences, his lecture at St. Francis is sure to touch on topics relevant far beyond the borough’s borders.

The event will take place from 12:30-2 p.m. on Monday, November 16, in the St. Francis College Founders Hall at 180 Remsen Street.
