Magnificent Park Slope Limestone With Henrybuilt Kitchen Asks $4.999 Million
Up for viewing today is a Park Slope limestone on a prime park block, at 882 Carroll Street. There are many a grand home on those park blocks — this one fits the bill and is in pristine condition to boot.
Parlor floor details include a pair of fireplaces, moldings, pocket doors, wainscoting, stained glass, triple bay windows and gleaming parquet floors with inlays. It should be noted that the staircase, per the listing, “has been artfully refashioned to create a voluminous eclectic gestalt.” What that means we couldn’t tell you, but we’re passing it along.
The kitchen, on which no expense was spared, is a looker as well, with Henrybuilt cabinets, a Wolf range and a Sub-Zero fridge. Narrow and enclosed, it’s the opposite of the open-plan numbers favored these days, with no room for sitting, but still, it’s a nice one.
The house offers an owner’s spread that extends to four floors, with an addition holding two bedrooms on the roof level. There are six bedrooms all told: The second and third floors hold two large ones apiece, as well as a laundry room and a lot of closets. There’s a half bath on top and full baths on the second and third floors — no half-bath on the parlor level, though.
The garden floor is set up for a rental, though we’re a little confused by how things work down there. The floor plan shows an eat-in kitchen, bathroom and storage closet that appear to be separated by a solid wall from the “recreation room” in the front, with no bedroom delineated.
Mechanicals are updated, according to the listing, from Annie Rose of Brown Harris Stevens, and the house is zoned for coveted P.S. 321. Plus, as we mentioned, it’s got Prospect Park mere yards away.
By now you’ve assumed that all this is not coming cheap, and you’re not wrong. The price: $4,999,000. Worth it? How do you like the house?
