Do the Right Thing

Jimmy Kimmel Live was spotted filming in Brooklyn this weekend.

ABC’s late night show host and native Brooklynite shot a spoof of Spike Lee’s 1989 classic Do the Right Thing in Park Slope this Saturday. Remaking 5th Avenue and 1st Street’s Two Boots into the film’s Sal’s Pizza, the crew had done little else to make the corner replicate the ’80s or Bed Stuy.

“I can’t wait till Brooklyn stops being hip,” one woman grumbled as she navigated traffic cones guiding pedestrians away from the shoot and into the street.

Neither Spike Lee nor Jimmy Kimmel were present, according to a production assistant. Perhaps they were just hiding in burrito-joint Calexico next door.

Jimmy Kimmel has definitely been somewhere in Brooklyn these past few days, though, as a week of his show is set in Brooklyn, beginning Monday, October 19. Kimmel will be broadcasting from the Brooklyn Academy of Music the 19 through 23.

ABC’s website says it will be an exciting week, calling Brooklyn, “New York’s most vibrant and bustling borough.” Take that, Manhattan.
