Bushwick Nightclub Conversion

Renderings were just released for a new Bushwick nightclub planned for 599 Johnson Avenue — the latest in a spurt of creative and cultural businesses in the area.

The future nightclub’s existing 13,866-square-foot structure will gain 21,815 square feet and three bars: one accompanying offices, a restaurant and performance spaces on the first floor; one alongside a kitchen on the second floor; and one on the roof.

The rendering shows expanded windows and a glassy ground-level facade.

Bushwack Capital’s Jon Killkelley purchased the building for $4,450,000 in February and has pre-leased 60 percent of the space, potentially implying he already has an anchor tenant, YIMBY reported.

The area’s non-residential zoning means that a spate of creative business and culture projects are in the works. In addition to the mural-ornamented nightclub, an enormous creative complex and new artist studios are also planned for the stretch between Bushwick and Flushing avenues.

Just around the corner at 99 Scott Avenue, Bushwack Capital is transforming another warehouse into a mixed-use retail and office space with an event hall, restaurant, and winery. The building is also the new future home of Brooklyn-based CSA startup Farmigo.

If Pacific Street is the “new Gold Coast” of Brooklyn, then what could we call Johnson Avenue with its burgeoning combination of industry and night life? The transformation taking shape in the neighborhood looks similar to the changes occurring around the Wythe Hotel in Williamsburg.
