Five of the Most Expensive Brooklyn Homes on the Market Right Now

Brownstoner checks in on the price cuts and new additions to our list of the borough’s priciest real estate on the market.

It used to be that cracking the $10,000,000 ceiling for a Brooklyn home was a near-miraculous feat. But more and more listings are asking for luxe prices, perhaps emboldened by photographer Jay Maisel’s record-breaking purchase of a $15,500,000 townhouse on Pacific Street or Jennifer Connelley’s former mansion selling for $12,400,000.

But that doesn’t mean they’re all selling like hotcakes. Our top three most expensive listings have all been on and off the market for more than a year. One that did sell closed at a significantly reduced price. (That would be Park Slope’s Tracey Mansion, at 105 8th Avenue, which initially asked $25,000,000, then sold for $9,500,000 in March.)

But what do you think of the listings below? Are these tony homes overpriced? Or are they just awaiting the right tech mogul or hedge-funder to snap them up?

Brooklyn’s most expensive condo got a $4,300,000 price cut this year. The 11,000-square-foot penthouse in One Brooklyn Bridge Park can now be yours for a mere $27,700,000. This bonkers triplex was initially listed last May and came back on the market in April after the occupants decided they didn’t like not knowing if the other was home. Bonus: It’s in the same building as the new home of Brooklyn Nets star Thaddeus Young.

This pair of enormous glass clocks comes with an $18,000,000 price tag — and also a triplex penthouse in Dumbo’s most iconic building. Unfortunately, not everyone seems to be on the market for a couple of 14-foot-tall timepieces; the home has languished on the market since 2009. In the interim, its price has dropped from $25,000,000. Perhaps three bedrooms isn’t enough to accommodate a prospective buyer’s entourage?

For those looking for a more traditional Brooklyn abode, this $15,000,000 Civil War-era mansion in Brooklyn Heights has oodles of old-timey charm. And it’s another oldie in our “priciest listings” collection. The home’s been on the market for nearly a year and a half and its price has been cut by a cool million.

Also known as Brooklyn’s most expensive rental, this four-story Federal-style townhouse could be rented for $30,000 a month or wholly owned for $12,500,000. The cast-iron verandah is swoon-worthy, and the interiors have been updated. Interestingly, the home was sold for just $3,900,000 in 2012. It has since gotten a revamped kitchen.

One of six Brooklyn Law School dorms bought in 2014 by Jared Kushner, 100 Pierrepont is still in the process of being converted back into a single family home. Hence the interior rendering from the uncanny valley. But the listing description for the $11,250,000 home promises a bevy of delights including a “dramatic entry foyer,” “sleek spa-like baths,” and “a serene outdoor oasis with ipe decking.” Who doesn’t love some good ipe.
