Brooklyn Book Festival 2015

At last! The Brooklyn Book Festival has announced a finalized lineup of its events. The annual celebration of Brooklyn’s rich literary scene celebrates its 10th anniversary this year with a full week of activities and lectures presented by a star-studded lineup of hundreds of authors and moderators.

The largest free literary event in New York City, the book festival plays host to a multitude of activities, including the Brooklyn Book Festival Children’s Day on Saturday, September 19, and a series of bookend events from September 14-21. The day of the festival itself is set for September 20.

Highlights from the full list of festival events, released yesterday, include:

  • Presented by Explore Brooklyn, Brooklyn Places and Spaces will give attendees the low-down on cool Brooklyn spots (5 p.m., Mainstage).
  • Former NYPD officer and Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams, novelist Darryl Pinckney and two policing experts will discuss race, bias and the implementation of the White House Task Force. New York Review of Books Editor Robert Silvers will moderate (11 a.m., Brooklyn Law School Moot Courtroom).
  • New York State Poets Laureate, both past and present, read from their work (11 a.m., Mainstage).
  • Writing About Place in the Age of the Global City features Low Life author Luc Sante and New York chronicler David Ulin discussing the roles of New York, Paris and Los Angeles today (2 p.m., Brooklyn Law School Moot Courtroom).
  • Past BoBi Honorees Jonathan Lethem, Edwidge Danticat and Pete Hamill discuss Brooklyn’s literary lineage at the Best of Brooklyn (3:30 p.m., St. Ann & The Holy Trinity Church).
  • Paul Holdengräber and Salman Rushdie in Conversation is a joint program from the Brooklyn Book Festival and the New York Public Library, where the professional conversationalist will talk with renowned author Rushdie (5 p.m., St. Francis College Auditorium).
