Rental of the Day: One-Bedroom With Garden in Boerum Hill

Today’s rental is a garden apartment in a Boerum Hill brownstone, with some charm and a nice landscaped garden out back. Listed by James Stubbs at Brooklyn Bridge Realty, the place is at 178 Bergen Street.

There’s no floor plan and photos are few, so we’re not sure of the exact layout, but it looks to be two rooms. The kitchen is in the back and off to the side, so there is room for a dining room table next to it and, presumably, a couch as well.

Or, as the listing puts it, “enough space for separate living and dining rooms.” The kitchen is small, with a sliver of a refrigerator, but reasonably nice, with the de rigeur stainless steel appliances.

That leaves the front room, with the decorative marble fireplace, as the bedroom. There’s a single bathroom.

The listing’s claim of “ornate detail” seems a bit fanciful, but there are nice wide-plank floors and two decorative fireplaces. And the garden is large and attractive, with a big ivy-covered pergola. And it’s all yours — there don’t appear to be steps down from above.

There’s storage and laundry in the basement, and the rent includes heat, hot water and electricity. It’s an attractive block between Hoyt and Bond, close to Smith Street and the F and G at Bergen.

Bergen gets a fair amount of traffic, and you’ll hear it on the garden level. But this is a nice apartment that ought to draw interest.

But enough about our opinions — what do you think of it and the rent of$2,900 a month?
