As Bed Stuy booms with construction, three small apartment buildings are filling in three empty lots that have been vacant for decades here on Halsey Street between Patchen Avenue and Malcolm X Boulevard. The projects appear to be related and share an architect although the owners are different. Altogether they will bring 19 more units to this busy street.

Furthest along is the building at the far left, 672 Halsey. It will have eight units, according to the new-building permit.

The exterior appears to be nearly finished, and work continues on the inside. It has not yet received its certificate of occupancy.

In the middle is No. 670, which will have seven units when it wraps, a new-building permit shows. It has topped out and has its brick facade. It is awaiting windows.

An LLC called Black Pearl Holding bought both lots for $690,000 in 2013. The owner’s name is Nevo Lubarton, according to permit information, who at one time apparently owned a now-closed real estate rental agency called Nevo New York.

On the far right is 668 Halsey Street, where work has not yet started. A partial permit was approved in June. It will have four apartments when it finishes, as the new-building permit shows.

The property is owned by 668 Halsey LLC, which permits show to be a small local developer named Tomer Erlich.

Years ago, there was a small two-story wood frame house here, an old tax photo reveals. Erlich bought the empty lot last year for $395,000 from the Mulzacs, a local family that owns many empty lots in this area.

The applicant of record on all three is Olabanji Awosika of Banji Awosika Architect, based in Jamaica, in Queens.

The developments are part of a building boom in Bed Stuy that is filling in empty lots and replacing small wood frame houses with apartment buildings. Long-empty houses are also being renovated and flipped.
