The dog days of summer are upon us. At least that’s how it seems looking at a pair of canine-related events this weekend: a dog fashion show in the South Slope on Saturday, and Barkfest, a daylong event in Williamsburg Sunday.

First up: Freddy’s Bar on 5th Avenue in the Slope holds its Doggy Fashion Show, a street party with a runway where furry models will display the finest in canine fashion. It’s the second year for the event, which Freddy’s owner Donald O’Finn created in memory of his late pit-bull mix Xena, a former fixture at the bar.

Fifth Avenue will be closed off between 12th and 18th streets from 5 to 9 p.m.; the event is between 17th and 18th at an unspecified hour. Comedians Brook Van Poppelen and Giulia Rozzi will host; the judges will be Albertina Rizzo and Jess Dweck, writers from The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.

There will be live music from Ms. Ida Blue and free doggy swag including chew toys, bowls, collars and, fittingly enough, doggy clothes.

Next up: Barkfest, which claims to be “the world’s biggest dog pawty,” takes over the Williamsburg waterfront Sunday, from 2 to 9 p.m.

Dog-friendly attractions include a “splash zone” pool, agility courses, a photo booth, “celebrity dogs” including Doug the Pug and Marnie the Dog, a hot-dog eating contest (yes it’s for dogs), and “dog-friendly fireworks.” For two-legged types there will be a beer garden and food trucks; there will also be adoptable dogs on hand.

It’s at 50 Kent Street, at North 11th Street, from 2 to 9 p.m.
