The site at 153-157 Remsen Street is finally seeing some action, with construction workers buzzing all around the lot where three decrepit buildings were demolished this past year. A rendering for the 19-story residential “Remsen Apartments,” designed by Perkins Eastman affiliate S9 Architecture, was posted nearby along with a projected completion date of December 2016.

The apartment isn’t nearly as inventive as S9’s futuristic WeLive/WeWork building, speculatively designed for the Navy Yard. Rather, Remsen Apartments is more on par with S9’s normal-looking 234 East 23rd Street building in Manhattan.

The resemblance between the two structures is undeniable. Both feature brick masonry with five large windows across each level and a terraced setback above the 13th floor. Earlier designs for 153 Remsen showed a staggered window configuration.

When it’s finished, 153 Remsen will have 60 apartments as well as shops and a restaurant or bar, as we have reported before.

The building’s developers are Quinlan Development and Lonicera Partners, the same duo responsible for Boerum Hill’s 267 Pacific Street.
