  1. There needs to be quality Police NOT quantity.
In some areas of Crown Heights & Lefferts Gardens, that share the same Precinct, there are far too many Police that are bored and end up harassing, entrapping and instigating situations where there was non.
An example: dog walker walking a dog on the street on Brooklyn Ave between President St & Carroll St, 7.00 pm. The Police officer “loitering” on the corner wants to know if the owner has ID. “No, I am just walking the dog, not going out anywhere, what is the problem?”.
“The leash is too long”. It was a stand 6′ long non extendable lease, the dog was close to the owners side, sat at her feet while this conversation was going on. No one had made a complaint, the officer was getting insistent on having some ID, or ” I will have to take you in….” I witnessed this directly because the dog owner, had stopped to talk to me. The Police officer only backed off when a young Jewish boy stopped to pet the dog.
I have often seen Police officers stop young children of a non Jewish persuasion about riding their bikes on the sidewalk, even if no one else is on the sidewalk and yet never stop Jewish kids for the same issue…… minor but grating harassment that can get out of proportion to what the Police should be doing.
This particular area does not need more cops, it like the rest of the City needs quality service with a Police force that has civic direction.

  2. Are these people delusional? Do they have no understanding that in this city police are necessary to prevent harm to people and property? I guess this lack of common sense and logic is what led people to vote for de Blasio.
