A wave of new dining options is hitting Bed Stuy, and tomorrow, the neighborhood will gain a new Haitian restaurant. Grandchamps is set to open Tuesday at 197 Patchen Avenue on the corner of Halsey, in a former bodega space.

It will also serve as a cafe in the mornings and it will sell groceries. We chanced by over the weekend and saw workers inside and a welcoming sign out front. The venue will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Shelving in the rear will offer items purchased in bulk by the restaurant for its operations and repackaged and sold inexpensively, a manager told us when we dropped in. Grocery items will include pasta and spices.

Breakfast and lunch items include steel cut oats, bagels, cod fish sandwich, and a mixed greens and watercress salad. Lunch and dinner plates include Haitian specialities such as pan fried pork or turkey with plantains, stewed chicken, and shrimp.

There will also be a vegetable and fish of the day. One of the desserts is a sundae with fried plantains, ice cream and rum sauce. GMAP
