664 Lafayette Avenue1

This house at 664 Lafayette Avenue in Bed Stuy has a ton of details, including a plaster arch over a pier mirror in the rear parlor and in the entry hall. It’s in livable condition but could use some updates, according to the listing.

We see French doors, plaster moldings, an original stair with new treads, and wood work that appears to have been stripped of paint. There are no photos of kitchens or baths.

It is set up as a rental apartment over an owner’s triplex. It is across the street from Herbert Von King Park. What do you think of it and the ask of $1,499,000?

  1. Agreed. This is a gorgeous house, but it feels like a complete do-over project when you’re inside (not to mention outside – the facade needs urgent attention). Still, for the location and the details, it’s going to make someone (who has plenty of $ to spare after closing) very happy.

  2. I went to an open house for this property back in March (back when it was listed closer to $1.7mil I believe?), and while it does have some nice details the house needs a lot of work. Kitchens and baths would need to be fully renovated, and the floors/walls/woodwork all need work as well (and based on its condition it seemed safe to assume there’d be a lot of unknowns with regards to structural work and mechanicals). Location is nice though, right by the G and close to the park. Price is more reasonable now but based on the the amount of work that would need to be done this one would definitely be best for someone with experience doing major renovations.
