Is it true that air rights sell for 50% the rate of actual footage? So at going rate of $1000psf and up for the closer Brooklyn hoods, that’s $500 psf?
No it’s not true. The price someone is willing to pay for air rights is very situational and depends on what you can do with those air rights. If there is any relationship, it would be to the price of land, not the price of finished product. Brooklyn land prices are well below $500 psf, so it would be a terrible deal to pay $500 psf for air.
too bad it’s completely out of context with all surrounding buildings, which it towers over, thanks to greedy neighbor who sold them air rights
