Pilar Cuban opened a week ago Sunday in its new space at 397 Greene Avenue in Bed Stuy, just two blocks down the street from its original tiny restaurant at 393 Classon Avenue. The new space has a dozen or so tables and eight seats at a big bar.

There is wine and beer on tap. For now it is open only for dinner, but in a few weeks will add breakfast, lunch and brunch. The restaurant is named after Ernest Hemingway’s boat, Pilar, which was made in Brooklyn, one of the workers busy setting up for the dinner shift when we stopped by told us.
